Mediahuis
One backend powering multiple branded storefronts for one of the Netherlands' largest media companies.

Mediahuis (formerly Telegraaf Media Groep) is one of the largest media companies in the Netherlands, operating brands including De Telegraaf, VROUW, Privé, Metro, Dumpert, and GroupDeal. They had a clear goal: increase e-commerce revenue without growing the team.
The challenge
They ran multiple daily-deals websites under different brands — Telegraaf aanbiedingen, Speurders aanbiedingen, Impulse — each with its own infrastructure. Launching a new storefront meant duplicating effort. Scaling meant hiring. Neither was sustainable.
What we built
A multi-label architecture: one centralised backend, multiple branded storefronts on top. New brand sites could be spun up rapidly without rebuilding from scratch. We focused on getting commodity e-commerce functionality from the platform itself, and investing engineering effort in the things that actually differentiated Mediahuis — proprietary integrations and a Vendor Portal.
The Vendor Portal gave suppliers direct visibility into orders and deliveries, enabling dropshipping without Mediahuis having to manually mediate every transaction.
Result
Increased revenue with the same team size. A scalable, multi-site environment that could absorb new brands and new suppliers without proportional operational growth.
